Coach: Joan Willett (11th year).
1994: 16-6, 10-4 in the Sea View League. Lost to Dana Hills in the second round of the Division I playoffs.
Key returners: Jonny Biorkman, No. 1 singles, team MVP last year, So.; Reza Farokhpay, doubles or singles, So.; Yoshi Suzuki, singles or doubles, Sr.
Key newcomers: Adam Artunian, ranked 32nd in Southern California boys’ 14s, Fr.; Chase Exon, No. 1 or No. 2 singles, ranked ninth in boys’ 14s, sister Natalie is one of top singles players in Orange County, Fr.; Ricky Kaplan, singles or doubles, ranked 25th in boys’ 14s, Fr.; Brendan Shainfield, singles or doubles, ranked 60th in boys’ 16s, Fr.
Outlook: Willett has her best group of freshmen to go with Biorkman. The Warriors should win the Sea View League and if the freshmen come through, they could challenge Dana Hills as the county’s best team in Division I. About the only downside is that most of Woodbridge’s talented players are young. Then again, most of them are tournament tough, and that should help the Warriors in those close matches.
