Artesia 55, Harvard-Westlake 54--Jonathan Nelsen scored 14 points and blocked a critical shot to lead the Pioneers (29-3) over the Wolverines (29-3) in a Southern California Regional final at The Pond.
With one second to play, Nelsen blocked Jason Collins’ three-point attempt to give the Pioneers a chance to win their fourth state championship in six years.
James Lee scored 13 and Dajuan Wilson had 12 for Artesia.
