Cough Drop Ads to Be Modified: The Better Business Bureau’s National Advertising Division has announced that Procter & Gamble has substantiated claims of superior coating for Vicks 44 Cough Suppressant, but said the consumer products firm has agreed to drop such claims of superior effectiveness as “feels better going down” and “stops more coughs.” American Home Products, maker of Robitussin DM, had challenged the accuracy of Procter & Gamble’s broadcast ads, produced by New York-based advertising agency D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.
