Two of several suspects in the shooting death of a 19-year-old Riverside resident were arrested early Thursday, police said.
Johnny Hernandez, 21, of Santa Ana, who was identified by witnesses, was being held at Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder, Police Sgt. Bob Clark said.
Alberto Jaime, 20, also of Santa Ana, was arrested later in the day after police served a search warrant at his home and found two handguns, one of which was stolen, police said. It was believed to have been used during the shootout that killed Roger Castro, Clark said.
Jaime was being held at the Santa Ana Detention Center on suspicion of being accessory to murder and possession of stolen property.
Castro, who police termed a Santa Ana gang member, was found dead by officers about 10 a.m. Wednesday sprawled in a driveway in the 1100 block of West 1st Street. He had been fighting with about five other young men when “guns were drawn and fired,” Clark said.
