George Banks scored 19 points and Antoine Gillespie added 17 to lead Texas El Paso to a 90-60 victory over Montana on Friday night in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament at El Paso.
Don Haskins coached his 665th victory in 34 years with the Miners (20-9), who play New Mexico State on Monday. That makes Haskins seventh in victories, one more than UCLA’s John Wooden.
Montana is 21-9.
Also Friday, Virginia Tech (21-10) got 20 points from Damon Watlington in a 62-54 victory over Clemson (15-13) at Blacksburg, Va.
