Copyright Piracy Penalties to Be Stiffened: The move follows pressure on the colony by the U.S. government and foreign software companies. Under a bill to be introduced in the territory’s Legislative Council on March 29, the new maximum punishment for copyright infringements will be a fine of $3,230 per copy and a two-year imprisonment. Currently the maximum penalty is a fine of $129 per copy and one year’s imprisonment.
