BASEBALL : New Angel Stadium Is Put on Back Burner
- Share via
PEORIA, Ariz. — It appears a deal to build a baseball stadium for the Angels will not be completed in time for the team to play in a new facility in the 1998 season.
Angel President Richard Brown said it would take three years to complete the $215-million project, meaning an agreement with the city of Anaheim would have to be reached no later than this month.
But the Angels are still not satisfied with Anaheim’s last proposal. Thus, stadium negotiations might take less of a priority as the Autry family works to reach agreement with former baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth to purchase a minority share of the team.
