Datametrics Corp., a Woodland Hills-based manufacturer of computer printers and other products, reported a sharp drop in sales and a broadened loss in its fiscal first quarter that ended Jan. 29.
The company posted a loss of $1.58 million in the first quarter, compared to a loss of $242,000 in the same three-month period a year earlier.
Revenues sank to $3.45 million, down 39% from a year earlier.
Datametrics, which has long depended on defense-related contracts, has struggled to recast itself as a manufacturer of color printers for commercial uses.
The company attributed the latest decline in revenues to shipping delays in defense-related business and to costs of developing commercial products.
