Foothill, Senior
Softball/Shortstop
Churnock started the week slowly, going hitless in four at-bats in a 5-1 victory over Capistrano Valley in the first round of the Laguna Hills tournament, but she soon picked up steam. She got a hit eight of her next 12 times at the plate and was named the offensive most valuable player after Foothill beat Marina in the title game. The Knights’ leadoff batter, Churnock creates runs with her speed. For instance, she scored the winning run in a 7-6 victory over Fountain Valley by scoring from second after a fly ball to left center she was tagging up on dropped in.
