Message to Congress

* I don’t get it. Why do we need a balanced-budget amendment for discipline to reduce the deficit? The whole world is sending Congress all the rationale it needs.
In your March 9 article, you reported that Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan “pointedly warned Congress that the (U.S. dollar) will remain under long-term pressure until Washington tackles the deficit.” People in Congress need only ask their constituents, “Which hurts more to lose--the value of the dollar, or perks from the government?” Then they can get out the ax.
