With Ellis’ Move in Limbo, Tustin Seeking a Football Coach
- Share via
Tustin Athletic Director Al Rosmino, citing the uncertain status of Tim Ellis, announced Monday that the school would seek to fill the varsity football head coaching position that Ellis held for two years.
Ellis had accepted the varsity coaching job at Trabuco Hills last Monday, but the offer was rescinded later in the week.
“We want to move forward and get someone on board before spring practice starts,” Rosmino said. “Since the situation was so public at Trabuco Hills, everything here was tenuous.”
Rosmino said Ellis, still a math teacher at Tustin, can reapply for the coaching position. “I’m not unhappy here, and next year is going to be a lot better than it’s been,” Ellis said. “I really don’t want to talk about my future; I need to sort some things out to figure out how I want to proceed.”
Tustin started 18 sophomores in the second half of the season and finished 1-9; the Tillers are 4-16 under Ellis.
