Steve Randall has been named football coach at Whittier Christian High.
He replaces Tom Caffrey, whose contract as athletic director, football and softball coach was not renewed because of budgetary reasons.
“I don’t intend to replace Tom because I don’t think you can replace a person like him,” Randall said Friday. “I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition and high standards he established here.”
Randall, the school’s varsity baseball coach, was an assistant coach for Caffrey the last 11 seasons. Caffrey’s teams were 132-60-1 in 23 seasons.
