VENTURA : Market Project Gets Environmental OK
- Share via
The Ventura City Council agreed Monday that a proposed expansion of the Albertson’s supermarket on Telegraph Road would not pose a significant environmental threat.
The decision allows Albertson’s officials to proceed with the expansion without compiling a lengthy and costly environmental impact report.
Albertson’s wants to renovate about 32,000 square feet of its supermarket, and add another 67,000 square feet of floor space to the existing building, at 7850 Telegraph Road in east Ventura.
The project would require that a 5,500-square-foot day-care center with 15 employees be demolished to make room for the expanded market.
Albertson’s also would be required to pay more than $88,000 in air-quality mitigation fees, and construct improvements along Kimball Road for extra traffic.
