Feldman Singles Out Ivy League for Tennis

Taft High senior Julia Feldman, the City Section singles champion in tennis, said Thursday that she will play next year at Pennsylvania.
Feldman, ranked in the top 20 in Southern California, also considered Dartmouth, UCLA and Rice, but chose Pennsylvania because she was accepted into its business school.
Football
The New York Jets did not tender a contract offer to former Cal State Northridge quarterback J.J. O’Laughlin--but there may soon be additional developments.
O’Laughlin, a two-year starter at Northridge who was passed over in the NFL draft last weekend, worked out for team officials in New York on Thursday. A Jet spokesman said there remains a chance that O’Laughlin will be offered a free-agent contract next week.
Basketball
Valley College guard Craig Griffin has signed a letter of intent with Fresno Pacific, Valley Coach Doug Michelson said.
Griffin, a two time All-Western State Conference selection, averaged 12.5 points for the Monarchs last season.
Cycling
Thurlow Rogers of the Valley-base Nutra-Fig Racing Team finished second in the 65-mile road race Thursday at the Vuelta de Bisbee in Bisbee, Ariz.
Rogers, of Van Nuys, and teammate John Wordin of West Hills both are in the overall top 20 with three days remaining in the event.
