PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : McConnell’s Triple Leads Capistrano Valley

Heather McConnell led off the eighth inning with a triple to right and scored on a ground out by Katie Harrison to give Capistrano Valley a 4-3 victory over Trabuco Hills in South Coast League softball Friday.
Ann-Marie Froysaa was four for four with a third-inning homer and a two-run triple that tied the score in the seventh for Trabuco Hills (12-9, 4-2). Capistrano Valley is 10-11, 2-3.
In other South Coast League softball:
Mater Dei 3, Dana Hills 0--Colleen Boddy (18-2) pitched a one-hitter and Robin Walker and Jodi Schicker each had two hits for third-ranked Mater Dei (19-4, 5-1).
San Clemente 1, Mission Viejo 0--Brittany Carlson pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and Kelly Baker’s two-out RBI single in the fourth inning was the difference for seventh-ranked San Clemente (18-4, 4-2). Baker’s single drove in Kim Lower, who started the inning with a single. Laura Meith had eight strikeouts for Mission Viejo (8-1, 1-5).
In the Golden West League:
Rosary 4, Saddleback 1--Theresa Cronin hit a double in the fifth inning and Lesley Fulton was two for three with a run scored and one RBI for Rosary (16-6, 9-2).
Westminster 8, Tustin 1--Brenda Quinn went the distance with six strikeouts for visiting Westminster (10-7, 8-3).
