INGLEWOOD : Mayor Hospitalized for Chest Pains

Inglewood Mayor Edward Vincent is resting at home this week after being hospitalized last week with chest pains.

Doctors said Vincent, 60, did not suffer a heart attack. The pains were related to stress and high blood pressure, said Assistant City Manager Norman Y. Cravens.

Vincent did not preside over Tuesday’s City Council meeting. It is not known when he will return to work, Cravens said.

Vincent experienced chest pains Tuesday while on an airplane at Los Angeles International Airport. He was on his way to attend the U.S. Conference of Black Mayors in Tennessee, but got off the plane before takeoff and was taken to Centinela Hospital Medical Center. He was released from the hospital Friday.
