COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL / SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS : Saddleback Beats Chaffey, 7-3, to Sweep Series

Saddleback extended its winning streak to seven games with a 7-3 victory over host Chaffey in the Southern California playoffs Saturday.
Saddleback (24-17) won the best-of-three series, 2-0, and advances to the second round for the first time in Coach Jack Hodges’ six seasons. The 13th-seeded Gauchos upset No. 4 Chaffey, 8-7, Friday.
Ken Dolan gave up six hits in the first 6 1/3 innings for the victory. Dolan, from San Clemente High, is 4-4.
Pat Antrim and Lorne Rosas each had two hits and drove in two runs for the Gauchos. Antrim improved his Saddleback single-season hit record to 68.
Jose Gonzalez, who hit for the cycle Friday, added three hits Saturday.
Saddleback scored twice in the second and three times in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.
In another playoff game:
Cypress 4, Moorpark 1--Host Cypress got its second impressive postseason pitching performance Saturday.
Pete Lythgoe (5-5) struck out 10, and gave up four hits and a run in seven innings for the victory. Ara Petrosian pitched the final two innings for his fifth save.
Mike Cosgrove pitched a complete game Friday as Cypress won, 8-4, over Moorpark to break a three-game losing streak.
Saturday’s victory gives the Chargers a 2-0 sweep in the series. They move to the second round Friday.
Mark Selway had two hits, including his second home run, and Jeff Pickler added two hits, scored a run and drove in another for Cypress, the defending State champion.
The homer was the second for Selway this season.
