HemaCare Corp. Cuts Net Losses to $48,000

HemaCare Corp., a provider of blood products headquartered in Sherman Oaks, reported a narrowed loss of $48,000 for the first quarter that ended March 31, down from a net loss of $686,000 a year earlier.
Hal I. Lieberman, chief executive officer, said that before research and development expenses of $284,000 were deducted, the company’s core blood products and services business actually generated income of $236,000 for the quarter.
The quarterly loss came on a 4% sales increase of $2.76 million compared to revenues of $2.65 million during the year-earlier period, HemaCare said.
