FULLERTON : Council to Consider Plan for Bike Lanes
- Share via
City Council members today will consider a parking ban along portions of Associated and Parks roads and Castlewood Drive to make way for bicycle lanes.
Bicyclists are expected to turn out in support the lane striping on all three streets, city officials said, while some business owners may oppose the loss of parking on Associated.
The city’s bicycle users subcommittee is recommending that Associated get a bike lane from Rolling Hills Drive to Imperial Highway and prohibit parking there. The lane would provide an uninterrupted bike route from Birch Street in Brea to Cal State Fullerton, officials said.
Merchants have raised objections, though, saying that to take away parking spaces on Associated would hurt business.
