FULLERTON / LA HABRA : Cities to Help Fund Communications Net
- Share via
Council members in both Fullerton and La Habra have voted to join a joint-powers authority to control financing of an $84-million emergency communications system that would link all county law enforcement, fire and public works agencies onto one radio network.
Construction of the radio network is expected to begin within months despite Orange County’s December bankruptcy filing.
Under the joint-powers authority, county officials and leaders from the 31 cities in the county will control the system’s financing. Cities will contribute 72%; the county will contribute 28%.
In addition, Fullerton and La Habra officials appointed their city managers to represent them on the authority.
