DOWNTOWN : Forum to Focus on Rights of Immigrants
- Share via
Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Los Angeles) will discuss how to fight anti-immigrant measures at a forum next week sponsored by an immigrants-rights group.
The event will be at 6 p.m. on May 31 at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, 1010 S. Flower St., in Los Angeles.
Organized by the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, it will include a panel discussion on proposed state budget cuts to programs that aid legal and illegal immigrants, as well as Proposition 187. The measure denying non-emergency public services to illegal immigrants was approved by voters in November but has not been implemented pending federal court review. There are also several proposals to cut federal benefits to illegal and legal immigrants.
