The St. Louis Cardinals lost two left-handers, placing starters Donovan Osborne and Tom Urbani on the 15-day disabled list because of shoulder problems.
Shortstop Ozzie Smith also sat out for the fifth consecutive game because of a sore right shoulder and could join those two on the disabled list, Manager Joe Torre said.

Lenny Dykstra will be sidelined at least the next two games for the Philadelphia Phillies because of a congenital spinal problem.
Team physician Phillip Marone said a CT scan revealed spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal, a common problem. Marone said the 32-year-old outfielder is taking decreasing dosages of a non-steroid to alleviate swelling, which exacerbates the stenosis. If the medication doesn’t address the problem, he might need a surgical procedure to expand the narrowed spinal canal.
