School Board: Gay

Candidate Gets Support
If a school board candidate was reported to have had sex before marriage, or to have cheated on his or her spouse, what would happen? Nothing--this is deemed to be of little consequence.
But when a candidate is gay, that is another matter, right? Wrong. A person’s sexual orientation has nothing to do with his or her ability to serve on a school board. Personally, I am sick of the radical right conservative Christian Republican groups’ hatred toward gay people. They need to get a life. CHERYL KOHR Redondo Beach

I endorsed Zeke Zeidler when he ran for the Redondo Beach school board, and I voted for him on March 7 because he is a thoughtful, caring and committed man. He was supported by parents, teachers and students. He is excellent at his difficult and heartbreaking job of representing children in a sometimes unfriendly court system.
Even before Zeke was elected, he worked hard for the schoolchildren of Redondo Beach as a board member and president of the Redondo Beach Education Foundation.
I voted for Zeke because I knew he would be a good Redondo Beach school board member. I knew when I endorsed him that he happened to be openly gay. Does this make any difference? No. VANESSA POSTER Redondo Beach

Never mind mountain climbers and sky divers, the bravest man has to be Zeke Zeidler: a gay, Jewish, registered Democrat--living in Redondo Beach! BETTE HENNING Redondo Beach
