One person was killed and two others were critically wounded Monday when a sniper opened fire in a small park in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles, a police spokesman said.
The sniper shot the three about 3:45 p.m. at the park, located at Mascot and Pickford streets, said Police Sgt. Susan Yokum of the Wilshire station.
The two wounded people were transported to separate hospitals. A man who was shot in the head was taken to UCLA Medical Center. A woman who was shot in the stomach was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis.
