HUNTINGTON BEACH — A scholarship fund has been established in memory of community activist Sharon Stirling to help carry on her work with single women with children.
Stirling, who died in April, was a Huntington Beach resident and founder of the Orange County Single Parent Homemaker in Transition Network. The group formed in 1991 to promote and coordinate services to help single parents and homemakers in transition to achieve self-sufficiency.
Scholarships will be awarded to single parents who are pursuing their educations to be financially independent. Contributions may be sent to Mary Lou Hughes, 4151 Calhoun Drive, Huntington Beach, 92649. Checks should be made payable to the Orange County Single Parent/Homemaker in Transition Network. Information: Call Donna Tillman at (714) 847-2873, extension 202.
