EDS to Buy A.T. Kearney Inc.: Electronic Data Systems Corp. said it signed a letter of intent to acquire the Chicago-based management consulting firm in a cash-and-stock transaction worth about $600 million. The letter comes after nearly two years of on-again, off-again negotiations between Kearney and Dallas-based EDS, a unit of General Motors Corp. The transaction would create one of the world’s largest management consulting firms. GM’s Class E common stock, used to calculate EDS’ earnings per share, fell $1.50 to $42.25. Kearney would be a wholly owned subsidiary but keep its headquarters and name.
