Amy Skieresz
SCHOOL: Agoura
SPORT: Track and field
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Skieresz ran school records of 10 minutes 16.42 seconds in the 3,200 meters and 4:52.70 in the 1,600 to rank third and seventh on the all-time region lists. Her 3,200 time ranks 12th on the all-time state list and third on this year’s national list.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: The Arizona-bound Skieresz ran 10:28.23 in the 3,200 to place second behind Santa Rosa’s Julia Stamps (10:15.27) in the State championships at Cerritos College on Saturday. Although the time was “disappointing” for Skieresz, it capped a season that fulfilled the promise she showed as a sophomore. “The best thing about this track season is that I have my love again for running,” she said. “I’ve realized that I need to run for myself and not worry about what anyone else might think.”
