Large British Bank May Buy Huge Index Fund: Barclays is expected to announce plans to buy Wells Fargo Nikko Investment Advisors for about $800 million as early as today, according to people familiar with the situation. The deal would make Britain’s largest bank the world’s leading marketer of index funds to institutional investors and one of the biggest fund managers in the industry.
