For sale in Claremont: special education buildings, a continuation high school campus, even the district headquarters, all for $6.4 million.
In March, after a six-month study, a Claremont Unified School District parents committee recommended that the district sell, lease or trade several sites to pay for staff salaries, more classroom computers and smaller class sizes.
The committee has been looking for ways to raise revenue “that will not cost the district any money,” said David Rose, assistant to the superintendent.
So far, one offer has come in--nearly $1 million for San Antonio High School, which recently was appraised at $714,000, said district officials, who declined to name the bidder. School board members will decide Aug. 14 whether to accept the offer.
