Woodland Hills : Welder’s Torch Sparks 10-Acre Brush Fire
- Share via
A fire started by a welder’s torch swept through a brushy area of Woodland Hills on Thursday, blackening 10 acres before flames were extinguished by firefighters, officials said.
The blaze started about 4 p.m. near 5009 Cerrillos Drive, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said. About 80 firefighters, assisted by two helicopters, put the blaze out in about 45 minutes.
Although there are houses in the area, none was threatened, Collis said.
The blaze was sparked by a nearby welding operation, he said.
