Re “Too Cruel for Cons but Not for Kids?” editorial, July 19:
So Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren has concluded that corporal punishment in California schools is constitutional. Will Lungren please explain to just what extent these beatings may be administered?
Wouldn’t his office aggressively prosecute parents who beat their juvenile children? Perhaps Lungren should take a little time out of his busy schedule to grow up.

* We feel that being paddled in school is not fair. Many kids at home are being abused. They don’t need to go to school and get more. School is supposed to be a place where kids go to learn, not get paddled.
We think Lungren is wrong. If it is not all right for parents to beat their kids, what makes school so different?
