Smith Is Said Planning to Have More Children

WASHINGTON — Susan Smith, who was sentenced last week to life in prison for drowning her two sons, told her ex-husband that she wanted to have more children when she got out of prison, he said Wednesday.

David Smith said he was dumbfounded when she told him about her wish last fall when he visited her in jail in Columbia, S.C. “It totally stunned me. It blindsided me,” he said on NBC’s “Today Show.” The boys’ father said he was planning to move from Union, S.C., because of the painful memories there.
