Pressed for the perfect example of a government agency that would benefit from technology, Oracle Corp. Chief Executive Larry Ellison came up with one quick: the Department of Motor Vehicles. Ellison, who is on Gov. Pete Wilson’s Information Technology Council, was told to identify ways to improve government efficiency. Ellison went a step further: donating software. The DMV could go on-line soon with a program that lets you do business with the agency from the comfort of your home computer.
