WESTLAKE : Sailing Marathon to Benefit Youth Shelter
- Share via
The Westlake Yacht Club will hold a benefit sail Saturday for Casa Pacifica, a 55-bed shelter in Camarillo for abused and abandoned children.
The marathon sail-a-thon will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with teams of two or more sailors making laps around Westlake Lake. The contest will be split into a junior division for participants under 18 and an adult division.
Skippers may request pledges for the number of laps sailed or a flat fee for the entire day. Trophies will be awarded to the largest money raisers in each division.
The first marathon, held last year, raised $14,000 for Casa Pacifica, according to the yacht club. The money raised this year will go toward purchase of a van for the shelter.
