PGA CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES

Note to those PGA spectators wanting to take a look at O.J. Simpson’s Rockingham Avenue home on your way to Riviera this week: Street access to Rockingham from Sunset Boulevard has been blocked by concrete barriers. The Rockingham street sign has also been covered.
Add O.J. and Riviera: An announcement over the media room public address system Tuesday was prefaced by this comment: “And this is no joke . . . “
The announcement warned that a Ford Bronco blocking the entrance at the Riviera Country Club would be towed within five minutes if not moved.

Pavin, trying to win for the third time at Riviera in 18 months, recalled the first time he played the course.
“I played it two times when I was at UCLA,” the 1995 U.S. Open champion and former Bruin said. “We could play at 2 p.m., I think, on Thursdays or something like that. And by the time we got to the 13th or 14th hole, it was dark. So I never saw 15, 16, 17, 18 until I actually played in the Los Angeles Open. So I couldn’t assess the whole golf course at that point.”
