8 Drivers Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint

Eight motorists suspected of driving drunk were arrested over the weekend at a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint conducted by the Oxnard Police Department.
With help from Port Hueneme police officers, Oxnard police Friday screened motorists in the northbound lane of Ventura Road at 7th Street.
A total of 826 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Police issued 21 citations for such offenses as driving without a license, and administered field sobriety tests to nine people.
The next checkpoint will be held Friday between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. in the northern portion of the city.
