Suits Over Lead in Paint Swamp New York

NEW YORK — As a landlord, New York City faces a record number of lawsuits over children being exposed to lead in paint.
In the last year, the city has been hit with 443 lead-paint claims, the New York Times reported Monday. Cases already filed could cost the city $500 million, more than twice the $230 million paid last year to settle all claims against the city, the paper says.
