Responding to reports of a recent landslide in the canyon immediately west of La Conchita, county officials have scheduled a community meeting for Thursday.
County staff and geologists will hold the meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Seacliff Fire Station 25, said Marty Robinson, deputy chief administrator for the county.
According to Robinson, La Conchita Ranch manager David Orr reported to the county that a large landslide occurred Aug. 11 in a canyon immediately west of La Conchita.
In addition, county officials have reported movement of as much as three-tenths of an inch and ground cracks as wide as one-sixth of an inch near the community, Robinson said.
County staff will continue monitoring the area and will answer residents’ questions during the meeting.
