Burroughs 38, Bassett 12--Senior Mike Barrett, playing his third position in as many years, scored five times to lead Burroughs (1-0) at home.

Barrett, who had been a quarterback and a receiver, gained 170 yards in 19 carries as a tailback. He scored on runs of 11, 35, 49 and nine yards, and had a 33-yard interception return for a score.

Burroughs intercepted four of quarterback Sergio Dalrymple’s passes and sacked him four times. Alan Cruz had two interceptions and Steve Lawrence had three sacks.
