What a break for the Notre Dame football team. They got all that national TV coverage just because they happened to be playing the Northwestern Wildcats in their season opener.

Dear Mike Downey:

My wife and I were married on this day [Sept. 6] many years ago on the campus of Notre Dame.

Our glorious anniversary is marred by today’s column and in particular the doggerel verse intended to poke fun at and satirize the Notre Dame fight song. You used to be funny until today. I concur wholeheartedly with Queen Victoria: “We are not amused.”
