Witco to Acquire OSi Specialties: The Greenwich, Conn.-based company said it will make the acquisition from an investor group led by DLJ Merchant Banking Partners for $486 million in cash. Witco also said it plans to sell its non-core lubricants group, which makes motor oils, greases, and road and surface materials and had 1994 sales of $404 million. Witco’s lubricants group makes Kendall and Amalie brand motor oils, LubriMatic brand lubricants and Golden Bear naphthenic process oils and road and surface materials. OSi is a leading global producer of specialty silicone derivative products. Witco expects OSi to have 1995 sales of $450 million, with nearly half derived from foreign sales. The deal remains subject to U.S. and foreign regulatory approval. Witco stock closed up $2 at $35.625 on the New York Stock Exchange.
