Reseda : Transient Dies After Stabbing
A transient was stabbed to death near Reseda Park on Wednesday evening after getting into an argument with a acquaintance.
Police said William Wolfson, 30, an unemployed transient, was found lying on the ground across the street from the park about 6:30 p.m. He had been stabbed once in the chest, according to West Valley homicide Detective Larry Dolley.
Wolfson was taken to Northridge Medical Center, where he died a short time later, police said.
Dolley said Wolfson got into an argument with David Havens, 31, over a bicycle. The argument erupted into a fistfight, before Havens armed himself with a butcher knife he used in preparing meals in the park, police said. Havens then allegedly stabbed Wolfson once before fleeing.
Police found Havens an hour later on the bicycle near the park.
Havens was booked on a murder charge at Van Nuys Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
