Nextel to Move Headquarters to Seattle Area: “As a result of our recent merger activity, Nextel has corporate employees across the country, some of whom are performing the same functions,” Nextel Communications Inc. Chairman Morgan E. O’Brien said. “It makes good business sense to bring together all headquarters functions in one location.” The cellular telephone company recently bought OneComm Corp. and American Mobile Systems and agreed to buy Dial Call. Nextel has headquarters in Rutherford, N.J., and Lafayette, Calif. OneComm has headquarters in Denver and Dial Call in Atlanta. The company said it hopes to complete the first phase of the move by the end of the first quarter of 1996.
