The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a $347,000 loan to repair a Canoga Park apartment building damaged in the Northridge earthquake, an agency spokeswoman said Monday.
Damage at the 248-unit complex included broken windows and cracked concrete, plaster and drywall, said Adrienne Girod, a HUD spokeswoman. The management company, Goldrich & Kest of Los Angeles, told HUD officials that repairs at De Soto Gardens, at 8722 De Soto Ave., will be completed by December, she said.
In all, HUD has awarded $84 million in loans to repair 144 quake-damaged apartment buildings in the Los Angeles area, Girod said.
