PREP ROUNDUP : Top-Ranked Woodbridge Beats No. 6 Santa Margarita

Woodbridge, the top-ranked girls’ tennis team in Orange County, easily defeated sixth-ranked Santa Margarita, 14-4, in a Sea View League match at Coto Valley Country Club Tuesday. Both teams entered the match undefeated.
Rachel Gunther swept in singles, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, and teammate Natalie Exon also swept, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, for Woodbridge (11-0, 2-0). Santa Margarita is 10-1, 1-1.
In another Sea View League match:
Corona del Mar 14, El Toro 4--Nina Vaughan and Megan Wachtler swept in singles for No. 2 Corona del Mar (5-2).
In the Century League:
Villa Park 9, Canyon 9 (Villa Park wins on games, 77-71)--Faye DeVera swept in singles, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, for Villa Park (9-0, 3-0).
In the Sunset League:
Fountain Valley 9, Marina 9 (Fountain Valley wins on games, 79-67)--Leslie Pham’s 7-6 victory over Heather Harper and Jenny Hipp’s 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 sweep made the difference for Fountain Valley (5-3, 1-1), which won eight of nine singles sets.
Los Alamitos 11, Edison 7--Danielle Brandlin swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for Los Alamitos (3-6, 2-0), which beat Edison (4-4, 1-1), ranked eighth in the county.
In Empire League girls’ volleyball:
Century 3, Kennedy 2--Allie Napier had 20 kills for Century (5-2, 1-0), which won, 16-14, 15-13, 13-15, 6-15, 15-8.
Cypress 3, Katella 0--Michelle Woiemberghe had 23 kills for host Cypress (1-4, 1-0), which won, 15-13, 15-9, 15-10.
University 3, Estancia 2--Courtney Chase had 21 kills for University (3-4, 1-0), which won, 8-15, 16-14, 5-15, 15-9, 15-5.
In nonleague boys’ water polo
Cerritos 21, Cypress 13--Erik Sandvig scored eight goals for Cypress (4-4).
