Both Club Med and the Walt Disney Co. are opening new ventures for travelers. Club Med says it is building its first casino at Club Med-Columbus Isle on San Salvador island in the Bahamas. Opening is scheduled for January, 1996.
Disney opened its first resort outside of a theme-park setting last weekend in Vero Beach, Fla., a two-hour drive southeast of Orlando. The Beach Resort is the first expansion of the Disney Vacation Club, Disney’s version of time-share resorts, which was launched in 1991 at Walt Disney World. The resort is opening with a 115-room inn and 60 villas, all of which can be rented like standard hotel rooms. The resort is expected, eventually, to have 436 units.
