When longtime City Hall critic George Arnold, 66, five times an unsuccessful candidate for City Council, moves to Twentynine Palms next week, his hometown will give him a send-off.
Councilman Dave Garofalo, who is arranging Wednesday’s going-away party for the outspoken Arnold, is asking that all who attend donate at least $5 each.
The money will be given to Arnold, a local entrepreneur who has been a fixture at City Council meetings, to help out with his moving expenses.
“After 50 years in town, he deserves a send-off. He’s left his mark on at least 100 council people,” Garofalo said.
The party will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Pacific Coast Cafe, 221 Main St.
