Sylmar 44, Poly 8--Durell Price rushed for 124 yards in 17 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 16, three and three yards as the host Spartans (7-0, 4-0) won their 43rd consecutive conference game.
With Sylmar already up, 14-0, wide receiver Kevin Brown scored on a 60-yard pass play on the final play of the first half. Brown broke several tackles and hurdled over a Poly defender at the Parrot 15.
Poly (0-7, 0-4) scored its points on a 60-yard pass play from Jelani Ogle to Leaford Hackett. The scoring play, plus two-point conversion, cut the Sylmar lead to 24-8. However, Sylmar’s Ty Patterson took the ensuing kickoff back 75 yards for a touchdown.
Hackett caught four passes for 92 yards.
Sylmar’s defense was led by Rafael Yoakum, who made two interceptions, and Price, who made five tackles.
