PREP ROUNDUP : Shutout Clinches Title for Santiago

Goalie Jackie Godinez recorded her 14th shutout of the season and Camelia Rodriguez scored two goals to lead host Santiago to a 3-0 victory over Edison in a Sunset League field hockey game Tuesday.
The victory clinched the second consecutive league title for Santiago (14-1-1), which won its 13th league championship. Edison is 12-2-2.
Ivonne Monroy also scored a goal for Santiago.
In Century League girls’ tennis:
Foothill 11, El Modena 7--Freshman Alexandra Petre, playing in her second varsity match for Foothill (6-11, 4-5), finished 1-6, 6-0, 6-1, losing only to El Modena’s No. 1 Amy Medlin. Medlin swept her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, for El Modena (8-7, 5-4).
In the Garden Grove League:
Garden Grove 15 2/3, La Quinta 5 1/3--Theresa Do swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, for visiting Garden Grove (15-0, 9-0).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 13, Aliso Niguel 5--Lindsay Weiss swept in singles, 7-5, 6-1, 6-0, for Laguna Beach (15-3, 8-0), ranked third in the county.
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 10, Newport Harbor 7--Alissa Scott rallied from a 1-4 deficit to defeat Vanessa Godbey, 7-5, to clinch the victory for top-ranked Corona del Mar (12-2, 7-1). The match was shortened because of darkness. Newport Harbor (5-3 in league) is ranked sixth in the county.
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 9, San Clemente 9 (Capistrano Valley wins on games, 81-70)--Sophomore Erika Punchard swept in singles for Capistrano Valley (10-6, 4-3), and she defeated San Clemente’s top player, Amanda Engle, 6-3, in the final set of the day.
In Empire League volleyball:
Katella 3, Kennedy 2--Kellie Alva set a school record with 32 kills to lead Katella (7-4, 3-4), which rallied to win, 12-15, 9-15, 16-14, 16-14, 15-13. Teammate Sylvia Panak set a school record with 62 assists.
Cypress 3, El Dorado 0--Michelle Woiemberghe had 19 kills and six aces for Cypress (6-5, 6-1), which won, 15-5, 16-14, 15-1.
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 3, Whittier Christian 0--Jill Overby had 13 kills and Jenny Roberts had 12 in the 15-10, 16-14, 15-11 victory for eighth-ranked Calvary Chapel (9-2, 7-0).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 3, University 0--Perrin Stitick had 11 kills in the 15-5, 15-8, 15-4 victory for fourth-ranked Laguna Beach (9-2, 7-0).
Laguna Hills 3, Estancia 2--Tayyiba Haneef had 14 kills and 10 blocks for Laguna Hills (8-5, 4-3), which won, 12-15, 15-6, 14-16, 15-2, 15-8.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 3, Corona del Mar 2--Melissa Snow had 20 kills in the 11-15, 15-6, 10-15, 15-10, 15-9 victory for No. 5 Newport Harbor (8-4, 7-0). Kelly Campbell had 31 kills for Corona del Mar (3-4 in league).
In the South Coast League:
San Clemente 3, Capistrano Valley 0--Jessica Olivier had 12 kills for second-ranked San Clemente (12-1, 7-0), which clinched a playoff berth with the 15-7, 15-12, 15-12 victory. Suzanne Shaw had 18 kills for Capistrano Valley (3-4 in league).
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 3, Marina 0--Melissa Wendt had 11 kills for top-ranked Huntington Beach (14-0, 7-0), which won, 15-0, 15-10, 15-6.
In nonleague water polo:
Long Beach Wilson 16, Capistrano Valley 11--Adam Wright scored five goals for host Wilson (15-3). Jake French scored six goals for Capistrano Valley.
