Clippers Get a Bad Omen

The Clippers got a preview of life without Pooh Richardson and it wasn’t pretty.
With Richardson, the Clippers’ starting point guard sidelined for three to six weeks because of a stress fracture in his left foot, the Clippers fell behind by 27 points in the third quarter en route to a 114-106 exhibition loss Wednesday night before an announced crowd of 10,826 at The Pond of Anaheim.
The Clippers shot only 19% in the second quarter and were outscored, 40-14.
Terry Dehere, who replaced Richardson, had 22 points, six assists, three steals and a team-high six turnovers.
Rookie guard Brent Barry, the Clippers’ backup point guard, missed all seven of his shots. Charles Barkley led Phoenix with 21 points.
